ADVANCED CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION DEVELOPMENT
The Ground Breaking Ceremony of the commercial development at 45-47 Pottinger Street in Central was held on 6 July 2015. As the BIM Consultant of the project, representatives from A.C.I.D. also attended the ceremony.
Organized by The Institution of Engineering and Technology, the “BIM Forum 2015 – Laying Foundations for ICT Infrastructures” was held on 27 June 2015 at The Open University of Hong Kong.
Government officials, university researchers and major industry professionals shared their views on policies, the latest development and applications of the BIM technology and its holistic effect, particularly on ICT infrastructure. Mr. David Fung, Chairman of HKIBIM and Managing Director of A.C.I.D., shared on the topic “Why BIM Fails?”
Mr. David Fung, Chairman of HKIBIM and Managing Director of A.C.I.D., was invited to participate in the advisory panel for Autodesk BIM Award 2015. Together with 8 other professionals, Mr. Fung provided valuable comments to the selected projects. The advisory panel meeting was held on 19 June 2015.
As the Chairman of HKIBIM, our Managing Director Mr. David Fung has been invited to participate in the HKHA Experience Sharing Workshop on Research and Development session on 18 June 2015. BIM adoption has become one of the main areas of the event.

The HKIA Second Quarterly General Meeting 2015 cum New Members’ Welcoming Party was held on 11 June 2015. The Secretary for the Environment of the HKSAR Government, Mr. K. S. Wong JP, was the guest speaker of the event. A.C.I.D., as a new HKIA corporate member, was presented the membership certificate.
The University of Hong Kong is going to offer a master degree course in BIM. It will aim at mid to top level managers. Being one of the BIM experts in the building and construction industry in Hong Kong, Mr. David Fung, Managing Director of A.C.I.D., was invited to be one of the course advisors.
The seminar on the topic “BIM in FM and Its Future” was organized by Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors on 20th May 2015. Mr. David Fung, Managing Director of A.C.I.D., was invited to be one of the speakers of the seminar.
At the HKIA council meeting which held in late April, our application for its Corporate Membership has been approved.
A.C.I.D. has now become a Registered Practice of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects.
The first meeting of HKIA BIM & IT Committee in 2015 was held on April 30 2015 at HKIA Premises. The new committee members for 2015-2016 have been elected during the meeting. Mr. David Fung, Managing Director of A.C.I.D. Hong Kong, is now the Vice Chairman of the committee.
Topics have been discussed as follows:
– Recommended fee scale of BIM as additional service;
– Research on BIM standards in mainland China;
– BIM management courses.
buildingSMART Hong Kong International BIM Award 2015 serves to recognize the outstanding performance and excellent contribution of organizations / project teams in demonstrating innovative use of BIM technology in problem solving, decision making, project control, construction productivity enhancement and operation management.
Heritage Information Modelling – The Story of the Victoria Peak Fire Station by Architectural Services Department was one of the award entries. This project displays highly technical, professional and innovative use of BIM.
As the consultant of the project, A.C.I.D. would like to congratulate Architectural Services Department for the demonstration of great effort in BIM project adoption.
